Please Read if You had a Bad Day Yesterday

Hey y’all, if a swipe or a click brings you to my little corner of the internet, please take a few minutes to look around. Encouragement might just come your way. It’s roll call time. Who had a bad day yesterday? We are flesh and although we serve a mighty King, we have bad days. Days that beat us down before we even get out of bed. Days that feel like 48 hours packaged into 24.

Yesterday may have found you experiencing the following:

  • Death of a loved one
  • Job loss
  • A broken car
  • Domestic abuse
  • Medical news that is not good
  • A household appliance that went caput
  • A leak in your roof
  • Inclement weather
  • Anxiety attack
  • A decision between food or rent
  • Your pet died
  • You were lonely

The reasons for bad days are endless. It does not make us any less of a Christian to admit we had a bad day. God shows us grace, in turn, it truly is acceptable to show ourselves grace. Yes, we can do all things through Christ but some days we can barely do one thing. And that is o.k.

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

Look at how encouraging these verses are.  His compassion for His children is new every morning. That bad day no longer has power over us. It will only grow and feed on us today if we allow it. Please don’t invite yesterday over for breakfast today. Leave it in the past, leave it at the throne. God’s compassion will wash over us and restore what was bad about yesterday. Is it easy to forget about the events of yesterday? Absolutely not. Will it still come to mind today? Of course. That bad day does not have to be your future.

Give yesterday to our Father. We can not allow it to reign over today. That crafty deceiver will whisper lies. He will tell you that today will be even worse. He will speak lies into your ear that it will never get better. Be on guard my friends. It is not a matter of if  but when. Now is the time to get prayed up, filled up and girded up. That old enemy is going to remind you about yesterday. Be prepared. Combat his lies with the Lord’s truth.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Thanks for dropping by and taking time to read my thoughts. I am not big on technology but I am awe-struck by the far reaching arm of the internet. When it is used for good, we can accomplish so much for His kingdom. His Word goes out planting precious seed that bears fruit across the whole world. Wow!

  1. Such an encouraging verse from Lamentations – written at a horrendous time when starvation was so bad that people were eating their own children! (“bad day” doesn’t begin to describe it.) If such a declaration of faith and hope came from that day, I’m pretty sure we’ll make it. 😉
