Shattered. Fragmented. Jagged. Broken. Drop a glass, a plate, anything breakable and this is the result. How many times in life do we feel as if we have been dropped? Forced to pick up the pieces ourselves. We may feel that God has abandoned us, because Satan is a crafty deceiver. Feelings are deceptive. If Satan can get us so low, so broken, so shattered then we are more apt to believe his lies. Why is it so much easier to believe Satan than to trust God? We war with the flesh everyday. A spiritual battle is raging and Satan wants to claim us as a prize. Do you want to be a trophy on Satan’s mantle?
When something shatters, pieces are flung in every direction. Some pieces go back into place. Some pieces are chipped. Some pieces are never recovered. Satan breaks us down. He takes pieces of us and never gives them back. He takes a piece of your heart. He takes a piece of your motherhood. He takes a piece of your children.
Praise God for those chipped pieces. The ones that situate back into place but bear the mark of having been broken. The visible chips, the ones that didn’t give up. That fought to go back into place. The ones that allowed God to pick them up and put them back together. Having been shattered and broken, they continued to fight. Fought to overcome. Fought to love through the pain. Fought to push through the tears. This will to fight comes from a supernatural strength that only our Lord can provide.
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31. Our pieces must wait sometimes. They are collected into a compact pile of immeasurable thoughts, feelings and emotions. God has allowed this brokenness and it is in His timing to decide when to pick the pieces up. A new strength will come. A new purpose. We may no longer be the vessel we once were but we bear the marks for His glory. Every little chip we have is a story, a lesson. A remembrance of when God scooped us up, put our pieces back together and fortified us even more than what we were.
When we are shattered, praise Him. When we are broken, praise Him. Praise Him for loving us enough to allow the shattering, to allow the breaking. The reinforced pieces can run and not be weary. They can walk and not faint. Our strength shall be renewed. It doesn’t say “might”. Although, the Scripture does say to wait. Then wait upon the Lord; we must do. As He collects our pieces, He is touching them with His Holy Hands. He is picking up and holding each chip and tenderly putting it back together. A spiritual revitalization is occurring.
As women of God, be proud of those misshapen chips you now wear. Never be ashamed of your story, your testimony. God took the time to cultivate and create a masterpiece. You are His masterpiece, chips and all.
