Are You Going To Eat Your Crumbs?

We have all done it at times in our life. Hung around the proverbial dinner table of someone else, waiting to see what crumbs they have left to offer. A little crumb of acceptance, friendship, happiness or love. We dart about as a little mouse, seeking just a little nibble of what is cast off. The entire time blinded and unaware that the fullness we seek is set at an exquisite array, with our Master at the head of the table.

We think our value, our fullness lies in another person’s scraps. It could be a friend, a spouse, or a stranger. The person may even be unaware of what we are doing. Searching for our value in something or someone other than our Lord. We try to get spiritual nutrition from everything but the source. We want a quick snack of feeling included, feeling wanted. That’s the problem though, it is just a snack.

The Lord has a feast prepared for us and we aren’t even aware it is a standing invitation. An invitation to have Him welcome us and dine with Him. There are spiritual riches that only He can supply. What we hunger for can only be found in Him. He satisfies our needs-physical and spiritual. Our void and hunger is filled. We don’t have to scurry about looking for second-hand morsels. What we hunger for, only He can fill.  Christ is the bread of life and He supplies the living water.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. Colossians 2:8-10
